• All in all, the hub airlines of the Lufthansa Group secured four first-place rankings in the World Airline Awards.
This year Austrian Airlines was once again given a top ranking in the renowned Skytrax World Airline Awards 2019 presented in Paris on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Austria’s national carrier won the world championship title in the category “Best Premium Economy Class Onboard Catering”. Austrian Airlines improved its overall ranking and moved up one place to 15th position.
“We would like to thank our passengers for this award. Together with our catering partner we will keep focusing on quality”, states Andreas Otto, CCO of Austrian Airlines, who personally accepted the award in Paris.
Lufthansa Group wins a total of four Skytrax Awards
All in all, the hub airlines of the Lufthansa Group secured four first-place rankings in the World Airline Awards. Lufthansa was named the “Best Airline in Europe” and “Best Western European Airline” for the third straight year. SWISS clinched first place in the category “The World’s Best First Class Lounge” in recognition of its lounge offering.
The World Airline Awards
The World Airline Awards are considered to be a global measure of outstanding performance in the airline industry. Rather than being decided upon by a jury, the awards are based on the results of the world’s largest customer survey in the airline industry. It is carried out by the public opinion researcher Skytrax every year and involves about 20 million passengers across the globe from more than 160 countries.
