• Passengers can suspend bookings until June 1, 2020 and rebook to another destination as well as a new travel date
• Policy applies to tickets with a travel date up to April 30, 2020 that were booked up to March 12 and to cancelled flights
• The recently announced waiver policy still applies to newly purchased tickets
Austrian Airlines is extending its current ticket waiver policy for passengers. With immediate effect, tickets with a confirmed travel date up to April 30, 2020 that were booked up to March 12 can be suspended. Passengers have time until June 1, 2020 to set a new travel date until December 31, 2020, without rebooking fees. Passengers may use this option if their flight has been cancelled or if they wish to postpone their trip due to the current situation. Customers can also rebook to another destination under the new waiver policy.
The recently announced waiver policy for future bookings continues to apply. Newly purchased tickets can be rebooked until March 31 once to a new travel date until December 31, 2020 without any rebooking fee. In this case departure and arrival airports cannot be changed.
The extended waiver policy applies to tickets on the entire worldwide route network of Austrian Airlines, regardless of the condition of the original fare booked. If the originally booked fare is no longer available on the newly selected travel date, a corresponding difference must be paid. Rebookings due to flight cancellations are free of charge. The rebooking must be made before the actual travel date, or by March 31 for future bookings and by June 1 for existing bookings affected by the new waiver policy.
To take advantage of the new waiver policy, passengers can contact the airline’s customer service department by telephone or via the contact form on the Austrian Airlines website.
