Austrian.com with new booking platform focusing on more flexibility

Service, Product, Awards

• Austrian.com allows for improved online booking experience
• New booking platform provides access to a wider range of destinations and new travel services
• No credit card fees for foreign currencies, additional flight options and increased flexibility for travel combinations

From now on, Austrian Airlines customers no longer have to surf different websites when booking their flights: the entire route network of Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS can now be booked on austrian.com. In addition, customers also have access to new offers and services for their travel planning on a new booking platform at austrian.com.

“Our greatest goal is to offer our customers a unique travel experience with Austrian Airlines. That’s why we design our digital touchpoints, such as our website, with maximum added value for our passengers,” explains Austrian Airlines Chief Sales Director Michael Trestl. “Customer needs have changed massively as a result of the pandemic. The desire for more flexibility in travel planning has become even more essential. We are responding to this proactively by offering new services on austrian.com such as “Secure Your Fare” or additional online services for the entire travel chain.”

New offers and services for the entire travel chain on austrian.com

Austrian Airlines customers now have the option of reserving their flight booking for 48 hours in order to take time to clarify further travel details. The service is free of charge if the booking is confirmed within a 48-hour period. Moreover, during the reservation, the airfare remains unchanged. If the booking is not completed, a small service fee will be charged.

In addition, for any flight with Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa or SWISS, customers can conveniently change their already reserved seats online via “My Bookings” according to their wishes and needs. Until now, if passengers wanted to add products and services such as an upgrade or insurance after completing their booking, this was only possible by credit card payment. From now on, passengers can choose from several payment options such as PayPal or “SOFORT Überweisung”. Furthermore, customers paying by credit card are now able to select the currency in which the card is to be charged. The daily exchange rate is displayed and guaranteed for the payment. This eliminates additional fees that banks usually charge for payments in foreign currencies.

The new booking platform also offers a new advantage for baggage bookings: from August on, customers will be able to book an additional piece of baggage online for every Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS or Brussels Airline flight.

As of now, all new services can only be used via the desktop version of austrian.com; they will soon be available on the mobile Austrian Airlines app.
