Start your holiday well prepared even in times of pandemic

– Austrian offers comprehensive Corona-related services such as insurance and digital document uploads

– Inform yourself in advance and fly relaxed: entry requirements, obligations to wear a mask & Co.

PCR test or antigen test, quarantine rules or proof of vaccination – since the beginning of the pandemic, travelling has changed and the requirements for entry and stay are constantly changing. Passengers must prepare and inform themselves accordingly.

Entry requirements:

On the Austrian Airlines website, passengers can find information on travelling in times of Corona and country-specific travel regulations. The information is updated on an ongoing basis. Additional information, especially on entering Austria, can be found on the website of the Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs and on the websites of the authorities of the respective destination country. Passengers are advised to inform themselves about the currently valid entry regulations of the destination not only at the time of booking, but also shortly before departure.

Insurance:

In order to be adequately provided for in the event of illness, you should take out a Corona-covering supplementary insurance policy with a sufficient period of validity and corresponding scope of benefits before starting your journey. Austrian Airlines offers a comprehensive service with its “Travel Care” insurance package, which includes a compensation payment should one have to go into quarantine at the destination due to a Corona infection. At the same time, the option includes travel cancellation and travel interruption insurance. The insurance package can already be added during the flight booking process.

Digital document check

Many countries currently require a valid negative Corona test, a digital entry registration or a corresponding pre-registration (Passenger Locator Form) for entry. To save valuable time at the airport, passengers on a large number of Austrian Airlines flights have the option of uploading Corona-related travel documents online and having them checked in advance. The upload is voluntary and possible up to 12 hours before departure. The result of the check will be sent by e-mail no later than four hours before departure. Regardless of the check, passengers must have the originals of all documents with them on the journey.

FFP2 mandatory mask wearing

On all flights with Austrian Airlines to and from Austria, FFP2 masks are compulsory until further notice due to the current Corona Ordinance of the Austrian Federal Government. Higher classified masks may be worn as long as they do not have a valve. Only children under the age of six and passengers who cannot wear a mask for health reasons are exempt from the obligation. In this case, a current medical certificate and a valid negative PCR test must be presented and uploaded on our website. The mask may be removed briefly during the consumption of food and drink.

Travel registration:

In order to be quickly reachable by e-mail or telephone in a crisis situation at the destination, Austrian Airlines recommends Austrian travelers to use the free travel registration service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
