Strong companies need ambitious employees. On occasion of Wiener Töchtertag 2022 (Viennese Daughters’ Day) sixteen young women explored the unique career opportunities at Austrian Airlines. In addition, fourteen daughters of airline-employees had a chance to dip a toe in the water of their parents’ world of employment.
IT-executives, pilots and first-officers, as well as technicians and apprentices showed the visitors around Austrian Airlines’ various stations of the technical basis and answered the young guests’ numerous questions.

Vienna’s Töchtertag constitutes a great initiative to give young women career opportunities and to explore professions aside of classical stereotypes. I am very pleased, that so many young interested people spent a try-out-day at Austrian Airlines”.
Wiener Töchtertag has already taken place for the 21st time on April 28. Austrian Airlines is one out of 190 companies which invited young women to a try-out-day.
On occasion of Wiener Töchtertag 2022, Austrian Airlines set a weeklong focus on its social media channels. Under the banner of #WomenInAviation, female employees were introduced via short video clips, talked about their career and had helpful and inspiring tips for upcoming career choices.
Apprenticeship at Austrian Airlines
As a premium-carrier, Austrian Airlines places particular value in a top-education of its apprentices. For 25 years, apprenticeship training for young people has been a particularly high priority for Austrian Airlines. Since 1997, more than 250 apprentices have been trained in a variety of technical apprenticeships at the red-white-red apprenticeship workshop at Vienna Airport’s hangar. Recently, eleven Austrian Airlines apprentices have completed their training. Nine of them carry on working for Austria’s largest airline, two decided to study at university.
