- Auction of no longer required plane seats and catering trolleys for a good cause
- All proceeds of 58.587 Euros go to the Ukraine aid program of Nachbar in Not (neighbor in need)
- Austrian CCO Michael Trestl: “We would like to thank all bidders, who have placed bids during the auction and thus contributed in helping people in need.”
From now on, 11 seat rows and more than 170 catering trolleys have new owners. Together with the online auction house Aurena, Austrian Airlines auctioned no longer required Economy Class plane seats from its Boeing 767-fleet, as well as more than 170 flight trolleys. The seats were predominantly in service on transatlantic flights and were removed in course of a cabin modification and replaced by Premium Economy Class seats. The seats and trolleys were renovated true to original and are now looking forward to new tasks on the ground; as an extravagant piece of furniture, bar trolleys or sturdy toolboxes.
During the auction, more than 390 bidders placed 2.500 bids. Therefore, it was possible to collect 58.587 Euros. In cooperation with Aurena, Austrian Airlines will donate all proceeds from the auction to the Ukraine aid program of Austrian NGO Nachbar in Not (neighbor in need). With these donations Nachbar in Not will provide people in need with food, water, medicines and hygiene products.
“The immense suffering of Ukrainians makes us very concerned. As the red-white-red flag-carrier, which has been connecting Austria with Europe and the world for more than 60 years, we are very pleased to share a piece of aviation history – and thereby help people in need. With this charity project, we want to make at least a small contribution to ease the suffering of the Ukrainian people. We would like to thank all bidders, who have placed bids during the auction and thus contributed in helping people in need”, says Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl.
