AIRcelerater take off for the fifth time: Austrian Airlines offers a unique combination of study and practice

  • Austrian Airlines’ dual study program “AIRcelerate” enters fifth generation
  • Applications open until 19 March
  • COO Francesco Sciortino: “Our “AIRcelerate” program enables young talents to gain valuable professional experience while they are still in training. After this study, they have the optimal prerequisites to immediately take off in the aviation industry!”

This year, for the fifth time, young talents can take off into a new phase of their lives with Austrian Airlines’ dual study program “AIRcelerate”. The AIRcelerate program is a combination of an academic degree in “Aviation Management” at the University of Applied Sciences Worms and a practical airline trainee program at Austrian Airlines. The unique training program was launched in 2018 and applications are open until 19 March.

Optimal foundation for a professional future

“Our AIRcelerate program enables young talents to gain valuable professional experience already during their training,” says Austrian Airlines COO Francesco Sciortino. “It also allows us to counteract the current shortage of skilled workers: The students acquire broad business and aviation-specific expertise. Once they have completed their studies, they have the perfect foundation to start working in the aviation industry,” emphasizes Francesco Sciortino.

Study aviation and put it into practice at Austrian Airlines

Currently, Austrian Airlines looks for aviation enthusiasts for the semester start in the fall. The bachelor’s degree program “Aviation Management” at the renowned University of Applied Sciences Worms in Germany consists of seven semesters. During the study period, seven practical assignments and a volunteering abroad project of the help alliance, the aid organization of the Lufthansa Group, are planned. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at one of more than 100 partner universities.

After each semester, students get a taste of airline air and spend several weeks in various business units of Austrian Airlines. This allows them to immerse themselves in the operational and customer-centric areas, learning about an airline’s core business from the ground up.

Career development opportunities at Austrian Airlines

“I am very proud that we have been able to recruit young and dedicated employees for our company for five years now thanks to the study program,” says Francesco Sciortino. At Austrian Airlines, the trainees receive a comprehensive offer for their personal development as well as a mentor from the Austrian Management Team. The additional development offer consisting of numerous training courses, excursions and personal feedback sessions completes the AIRcelerate program and enables young talents to unleash their full potential.

All participants in the AIRcelerate program also benefit from many employee benefits right from the start, such as special flight conditions. Interested applicants with a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification enabling them to study at a university can apply on the Austrian Airlines website until 19 March.
