Start into the 2023 summer flight schedule: Austrian Airlines flies 250,000 guests on Easter weekend

  • Full planes to sunny destinations and European city classics
  • Flying Chefs serve exclusive Easter meal on board
  • CCO Michael Trestl: “The Easter holidays are the first big wave of travel. We are looking forward to indulge our guests on board!”

On the first major travel weekend of the year, Austrian Airlines flies around a quarter of a million passengers. Austrian guests are attracted to destinations that already boast temperatures above 20 degrees. Hurghada and the Canary Islands (Tenerife and Gran Canaria) are the most popular destinations for Austrian Airlines vacation flights, while Marrakech and Málaga are in high demand in the scheduled program. European city classics such as Berlin, Paris and Copenhagen are also among the most popular Easter destinations. Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl: “The Easter holidays are the first big wave of travel. We are looking forward to indulge our guests on board!” This year, Austrian Airlines’ summer flight schedule includes 124 destinations during the peak summer travel season. While some new additions on the medium-haul route have already taken off on their maiden flights (Billund, Palermo, Marseille, Vilnius and Porto), Tromsø and Tivat will be added to the summer flight schedule in the coming months. On long-haul routes, direct flights to Tokyo and Los Angeles will resume in May.

A relaxed start to the Easter holidays

Around 250,000 passengers are expected on board of Austrian Airlines over the Easter Weekend. In preparation, Austrian Airlines has increased the number of staff at all counters and gates at Vienna Airport. For families with small children, there is a check-in counter with a separate children’s area in Terminal 3. To avoid stress at check-in and at the security check, it is recommended to arrive early at the airport and checking in online in advance. With web check-in, for example, seats can be selected from the comfort of your home as early as 47 hours before departure. To speed up security screening and aircraft boarding, compliance with carry-on baggage guidelines is important. Passengers arriving by City Airport Train (CAT) can check in their baggage for Austrian Airlines flights from Vienna as early as at the Wien Mitte station.

Exclusive Easter meals on board

This weekend, all Austrian Airlines guests can look forward to culinary surprises on board. On Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, business class passengers on selected flights to North American destinations will enjoy an Easter meal prepared exclusively by the Flying Chefs, including ham from the Viennese manufacturer Thum. Guests in Premium Economy and Economy Class will receive a small token with a red Austrian Airlines Easter egg and a Lindt chocolate bunny.
