- New addition to the winter timetable is the city of Ivalo in Finnish Lapland
- Frequency of some existing and very popular routes such as Bangkok, New York, Maldives and Montreal will be increased
- The new destinations in the 2024 summer flight schedule Boston, Bremen and Tbilisi will also be continued in winter
- CCO Michael Trestl: “Our aim is to continuously expand our route network in order to be able to offer our guests a broad portfolio of destinations. We have achieved this successfully in the winter flight schedule with the addition of Ivalo and the continuation of the new summer destinations in winter. On long-haul routes, it was important for us to initially serve Boston in the winter and to offer more flights to destinations popular among our guests. This approach aims to return to pre-crisis levels in intercontinental services and provide attractive connections worldwide!”
Austrian Airlines will reach a significant milestone in 2024 with the introduction of the Boeing 787. This expansion includes two additional long-haul aircraft that will be deployed in the summer schedule, also increasing capacity for the winter schedule. On long-haul routes, Austrian Airlines’ guests can look forward to the destination Boston, introduced this summer, as well as increased frequencies to their favorite destinations.
A new tourist destination will also be added: Ivalo in Finnish Lapland, which is particularly popular with winter sports enthusiasts. The destinations Kittilä and Rovaniemi in Finland, which were added to the Austrian flight schedule last winter, will be offered again this year.
With Austrian in winter to Ivalo, Boston, Bremen, and Tbilisi
Ivalo is a new addition to the red-white-red airline’s winter flight schedule, offering travelers the opportunity to experience a winter wonderland in northern Finland. The village is an ideal starting point for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, with the Inari holiday region boasting several hundred kilometers of well-maintained trails. Ski hiking, sledging, and aurora snowmobile safaris are also popular activities in Ivalo. Visitors can observe reindeer in their natural environment during the day and marvel at the Northern Lights at night. Austrian Airlines will operate this route every Saturday from January to March. The destinations Boston, Bremen, and Tbilisi, which were added to the summer schedule, will continue in the winter schedule.
Attention globetrotters!
There is also good news for those who prefer to escape the winter: Austrian Airlines is increasing the frequency of some of its long-haul routes. Thanks to the new capacity provided by the two Boeing 787-9s, flights to Bangkok will increase from seven to up to 13 per week. Connections to New York, Montreal, and the Maldives will also increase to five flights per week. The new connection to Boston will be operated up to three times a week.
