Sophie Matkovits, currently Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs & Corporate Responsibility, will leave Austrian Airlines at the end of 2024 by her own request to focus on her private family happiness and a new professional challenge starting in the fall of 2025. David Kondo, Head of Brand Experience, will also leave Austrian Airlines this year to take the next career step at his home airline, Qantas.
“On behalf of the entire management team, I would like to sincerely thank Sophie Matkovits and David Kondo for their dedication. Sophie has been a valuable sparring partner for me since day one, demonstrating a great deal of sensitivity and leadership, especially in times of crisis. She has significantly contributed to successfully shaping our internal cultural change and paving the way for a successful future after the pandemic. David Kondo has successfully developed the brand strategy of the red-white-red airline and laid the foundation for a modern long-haul product. Both Sophie and David have significantly shaped our corporate strategy. We wish them all the best for their future,” said Annette Mann, CEO of Austrian Airlines.
360 degree setup bundles all brand and communication topics in the future
These two personnel changes are the reason for Austrian Airlines to realign its communication and brand strategy. In collaboration with the existing management, a new 360-degree setup has been developed that will bundle all brand and communication topics under one organizational roof in the future. The new role combines brand strategy & design, external & internal communication, marketing, events and customer communication.
Looking ahead, Annette Mann adds: “The goal is to further strengthen the brand strategy, based on which to efficiently steer all communication from a single source to all relevant target groups and thus elevate the professional appearance of the company and the brand experience to the next level.”
The new position of “Head of Brand & Communication” as well as other vacant positions with a strong customer focus are advertised on the airline’s career page at careers.austrian.com. Austrian Airlines is looking forward to numerous, expressive applications from motivated candidates.
