  • Supervisory Board Chairman Till Streichert: “On behalf of the Supervisory Board,
I would like to thank Michael Trestl most sincerely for his passionate commitment and appreciative cooperation.”

Michael Trestl (39), a member of the Austrian Airlines Executive Board team as CCO since
1 January, 2021, will assume the role of ITA Implementation Officer for the Lufthansa Group from
1 February, 2025 and thus leave the Austrian Airlines Executive Board. After four successful years in Austria, the native of Lower Austria will be responsible for the holistic integration of the Italian airline ITA Airways into the Lufthansa Group.

In recent years, Michael Trestl has played a key role in the successful restart and positive economic development of the Austrian national airline following the coronavirus pandemic. The steady expansion of the route network and the continuous focus on further developing the guest experience have underscored Austrian Airlines’ positioning in a dynamic competitive environment. The brand image was also modernized and brought up to date with new accents.

“On behalf of the Supervisory Board, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Michael Trestl for his passionate commitment and appreciative cooperation. Together with his two colleagues on the Executive Board, he quickly put Austrian Airlines back on a solid economic footing after the pandemic and started the successful growth course. At the same time, as a member of the Lufthansa Group Executive Board, I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Michael Trestl for this demanding role within the Group and wish him every success in his new challenge”, said Till Streichert, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Austrian Airlines and Chief Financial Officer Lufthansa Group.

Executive Board team to fly Austrian Airlines towards its 70th birthday

CEO Annette Mann and COO Francesco Sciortino will manage the Executive Board agendas. The decision on this and the corresponding division of responsibilities was made by the airline’s Supervisory Board.

The focus of both Executive Board members for the coming years will be to bring the red-white-red airline into “best shape” for its 70th anniversary in autumn 2027. Numerous investments in customer service and fleet renewal as well as the consistent further development of the network should strengthen customer satisfaction and economic success in the long term.
