Company
• Andreas Otto will take on Wolfgang Jani’s responsibilities
• The Executive Board will be reduced in size
Wolfgang Jani, Chief Financial Officer of Austrian Airlines, will leave the company as at the end of August. He assumed the position of CFO and Member of the Executive Board in April 2018. Wolfgang Jani has now taken the occasion of the successful conclusion of the coronavirus financing package to retire from his position on the airline. In the future he will devote himself to new projects and challenges outside of the Lufthansa Group. The vacant Management Board position with responsibility for “Finance” will not be filled. Instead, CCO Andreas Otto will take on the duties previously handled by Mr. Jani effective September 1, 2020. Accordingly, the Executive Board will be reduced in size, and will be comprised of CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech and CCO & CFO Andreas Otto. COO Jens Ritter belongs to the extended Executive Board.
Christina Foerster, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, says: “Wolfgang Jani developed the #DriveTo25 strategy programme together with his colleagues on the Management Board in order to align the company to the tough competitive environment in Austria. He was project initiator and sponsor for one of the key topics, the process efficiency programme “PE20”. Caused by the COVID-19 crisis, Wolfgang Jani has been in charge of securing financing and the positive going concern statement of the company in recent months. Without exception, these were difficult and challenging issues he had to deal with during his more than two-year term of office. On behalf of the Supervisory Board and the Management Board, I would like to express our great thanks for his work. We wish Wolfgang Jani all the best for the future.”
