• Domestic airline has been training aviation experts of the future itself for 25 years
• Applications for five mechatronics apprenticeships open until August 22, 2021
• COO Francesco Sciortino: “Our apprenticeship training is a valuable investment in junior staff and maintenance operations”
Over the past 25 years, Austrian Airlines has trained around 250 apprentices in different areas of company departments. “We are delighted with the motivated and committed young people who start their training at Austrian Airlines year after year. Apprenticeship training is an important and valuable investment in the future. On the one hand, today’s trainees are our aviation experts of tomorrow, and on the other hand, we want to give young adults perspectives for their professional lives,” says Austrian Airlines COO Francesco Sciortino. The domestic airline is currently training 34 apprentices. In addition to an apprenticeship in the administrative area as an office administrator, Austrian Airlines offers a particularly exciting training path with apprenticeships for “Mechatronics – Production Technology”. Five apprenticeships are being offered for this programme this year. Applications are possible up to and including 22 August.
“The smooth running of aviation is impossible without the professional maintenance of aircraft. With the training as a mechatronics technician in production technology, we secure our own junior staff. We value comprehensive training as well as a high level of quality,” says COO Sciortino.
Mechatronics apprenticeship starts on 1 October in apprentice workshop
The mechatronics apprenticeship, which can be combined with the Matura, takes place in the apprentice workshop at Vienna International Airport, where the apprentices benefit from the experience and professionalism of of the technical staff during the entire 3.5-year apprenticeship period. The apprenticeship includes practical on-the-job training in the specialist workshops and in aircraft maintenance, as well as specialist Cat.A training, which prepares them for their future working environment. Theoretical training at the vocational school as well as further internal and external specialised seminars are also part of the training programme. Successful completion of the 9th school year, very good German and English language skills and an interest in mathematics, physics and aircraft technology are required. If you also bring along manual dexterity and spatial thinking skills as well as the ability to work in a team and a sense of responsibility, you have the best qualifications for the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship starts in October 2021. Applications can be submitted on the website.
