Austrian Airlines remains number 1 in Vienna
Already last summer and during winter season 2021/2022 it was clear, that the desire to travel abroad is continuously emerging. Therefore, the Austrian Airlines team has reacted early and implemented a comprehensive summer flight schedule, which provides a 20% bigger offer to European holiday destinations compared to pre-pandemic times. Thus, Austrian Airlines flies with its entire fleet capacity and offers an attractive flight schedule, which ideally matches the travel needs of all Austrians. During the upcoming Easter holidays all long-haul destinations as the Maldives, Mauritius, Bangkok or Cancun, as well as sunshine destinations in Europa, like Mallorca, Sicily or Cyprus are particularly popular. Regarding city trips in spring, Tel Aviv, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin are on top of the list of the most popular travel destinations.
While other operators more and more withdraw from Vienna, Austrian Airlines massively increases its route portfolio, in order to enhance its role as an Austrian home-carrier and Vienna’s role as an international hub.
With 36 destinations around the Mediterranean, the focus will clearly be on leisure travel. To Greece alone, Austrian Airlines flies 78 times per week to 19 destinations. For customers travelling to Spain, 41 weekly connections are offered for customers travelling to Spain and 11 destinations and 115 weekly flights are scheduled to Italy. Due to high demand, it is planned to operate flights to our top destination Heraklion with a long-haul aircraft of the type Boeing 777. “As a premium-carrier, we offer our passengers a variety of destinations, ideal flight times, attractive prices and service of highest quality during the whole travel chain. “We are looking forward to connect Austria with Europe and the world during the upcoming summer months”, says Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl.
