Austrian Airlines has completed the fleet induction of its four Airbus A320neo aircraft. Yesterday, the remaining aircraft with the registration OE-LZP landed in Vienna at 08:15 p.m.. The aircraft, named “Kalkalpen”, will welcome the first passengers on board and enter into service already next week. This means that all four A320neo with the registrations OE-LZN (named “Donau-Auen”), OE-LZO (named “Seewinkel”), OE-LZQ (named “Gesäuse”), OE-LZP (named “Kalkalpen”) will then be in service in the Austrian Airlines fleet. The A320neo’s most frequently served destinations include: Amsterdam, Amman, Berlin, Frankfurt, destinations in Greece like Athens, Heraklion and Thessaloniki, as well as Cairo, London and Zurich.

CEO Annette Mann: “We are happy about the arrival of our newest fleet member just in time for the beginning of the holidays. Austrian is starting the summer well booked and our aircraft are full. With the A320neo, we have brought one of the most innovative and efficient aircraft types on the market to Austrian Airlines, and I am delighted that we will soon be growing in our long-haul fleet as well.” From 2024, ten Boeing 787-9s will gradually modernize the entire Austrian long-haul fleet, an increase from nine to ten aircraft.

A320neo particularly fuel-efficient and quiet

New-generation aircraft are a key lever in reducing CO2 emissions in flight operations. Thanks to innovative technology, the A320neo is up to 20 percent more fuel-efficient than previous models and around 50 percent quieter. Passengers can also look forward to the cabin design with an innovative lighting system, which is geared to the biorhythm of passengers. The A320neo also offers particularly much space for hand luggage, with up to 60 percent more capacity.
