Starting today, the Austrian Airlines Airbus A320 with the registration OE-LBN is flying a very special mission: in cooperation with the Expo Office of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, it now carries the official logo of Austria’s participation in this year’s Expo, which will take place in Osaka, Japan, from 13 April to 13 October. Under the motto “Designing Future Society For Our Lives”, around 160 countries and 9 international organizations will present their latest developments, innovations and achievements. Around 28 million visitors are expected this year. Austria will once again be represented at the Expo with its own national pavilion and will use this platform to make the country’s innovative strength and creative diversity accessible to an audience of millions.

The special livery on the Austrian Airlines Airbus is intended to act as a unique symbol of Austria’s participation in the Expo, drawing the attention of international passengers to its involvement in the world exhibition.

Airbus A320 with special livery for the entire duration of the Expo

An aircraft was deliberately chosen to carry the logo. After all, it is a symbol of this important global event. The Airbus A320 will be flying with its new, special livery for the entire duration of the Expo.

Annette Mann, Austrian Airlines CEO, emphasizes: “With the special livery on one of our Airbus A320, Austrian Airlines is carrying the message of Austria’s participation in Expo 2025 in Osaka across the countries and through the skies. We are delighted to be able to contribute to the best possible impact of the Austrian part of this unique networking platform for countries and their innovations. Austrian Airlines understands itself as a partner that contributes to arousing interest in the Expo and its insights among our passengers.”

Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, Federal Minister of Labor and Economy: “Austria stands for innovation and economic strength – this is exactly what we are presenting at the Expo 2025 in Osaka. Austrian Airlines is already spreading this message and promoting our pavilion worldwide. Our participation in the Expo is a strong signal: we are showing that Austria is a dynamic business location and home to diverse, innovative companies.

Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Governor of Lower Austria: “In turbulent times, reliable trading partners are indispensable. Especially when protectionism and trade barriers are on the rise in many parts of the world, we want to promote free trade and international networking. This Airbus is a symbol of this. After all, exports are the engine of our prosperity. Lower Austria earns every second euro from the export of goods. The Expo 2025 offers an excellent opportunity to deepen the economic relationship between Lower Austria and Japan. In May, I will be traveling to Japan with a large business delegation, where a visit to the World Expo is also on the agenda.”

Philipp Gady, Vice President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber: “Austria’s participation in the Expo 2025 in Osaka is a unique opportunity to present our innovative strength and creativity to an international audience. The fact that Austrian Airlines is acting as an ambassador and carrying Austria’s Expo logo across national borders strengthens our country’s global presence in the run-up to the world exhibition. This project underlines how closely networked our companies are and how together they contribute to the global visibility of Austria as a business location.”

Ursula Plassnik, Austrian Government Commissioner for EXPO 2025: “The logo of the Austrian presence at the Expo 2025 on this Austrian Airlines aircraft documents the commitment to the upcoming world exhibition and ensures that Austria’s participation remains internationally visible.”

Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport: “Many of our passengers come from Asia, and Japan in particular is an important travel market for us. We are therefore also using the Austrian presence at the World Expo in Japan to intensify our business relations with Japan and the Asian region.”
