Economical Responsibility
Austrian Airlines has the task of connecting Austria with the world. We contribute to global and domestic business growth through the delivery of goods and services. In order to fulfil this role, it is indispensable that we operate in a sustainable and financially viable manner.
Finance
Austrian Airlines has close to 6,000 staff members from 58 nationalities. In 2019, we transported 14.7 million passengers and achieved 2.1 billion euros in revenue. In 2019, we accounted for almost 45% of the passengers at Vienna Airport, the largest employer in Austria. We have 4,800 suppliers, 1,500 of which are Austrian. 40% of the 2 billion euros spent on suppliers in 2019 went to Austrian firms. Fees account for about 30% of our total expenditure, which in turn benefit the Austrian economy.
Quality of Service
Austrian Airlines’ commitment to service has been reflected in numerous awards and recognitions. In 2017, Austrian Airlines scored 11th place worldwide in airline punctuality. In 2018, we were awarded the SKYTRAX World Airline Award in service for the fifth consecutive year, as well as the number one rating in business class catering. Austrian Airlines employs 60 DO & CO sky chefs, and offers a selection of finest Austrian coffee on board.
Austrian once again took top honors at the 2019 SKYTRAX World Airline Awards, moving up one spot in the overall rankings to 15th place in the category “Best Premium Economy Class In-flight Catering”.
Long-Haul Portfolio
Austrian Airlines is the only airline to operate direct flights between Austria and four destinations in the USA. We transport 195,000 passengers annually from North America to Austria.
Innovation
The service initiative “AIRail” was launched in order to facilitate the transfer of passengers between Vienna Airport, Salzburg or Linz and later Graz. In combination with a previous or subsequent Austrian Airlines flight, passengers can use one of three daily Railjet connections of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) with an Austrian Airlines flight number between Central Railway Stations Salzburg, Linz or Graz and Vienna Airport.
